I am currently employed as a Media Technician and an Instructional Assistant by Irvine Unified School District (IUSD). Before moving to the US in 2004, I lived in South Africa. I attended the Johannesburg School of Performing Arts (JSPA) and graduated in 1985. After graduating from JSPA, I spent several years working as a student teacher, teaching ballet and Spanish dancing to students of all ages from 3 years old to adults. I started my own dance studio and over the course of 18 years grew my student base from just a handful of students to a successful studio of over 200 students, teaching many styles of dance from ballet, contemporary, Spanish and flamenco dance forms. In 1996 I formed a professional dance company and staged a ballet that I wrote and choreographed to positive acclaim. I have a wealth of experience in choreography and not only choreographed numbers for my own studio and professional dance company but also provided choreography for other dance teachers, dance studios and dance companies on a freelance basis

At the beginning of 2004 my family relocated to the US and settled in Irvine. During the time that my children were students at Westpark Elementary, I volunteered as an Instructional Assistant and in 2008 was offered a Media Technician position. I was able to successfully convince Westpark Elementary to allow me to put together an annual talent show and musical production. Over the course of the past 7 years, I have successfully staged multiple talent shows at Westpark Elementary in addition to 8 musical productions at the Elementary and Middle school level. My background in the performing arts has allowed me to make a positive contribution to many students. While I have a fulfilling job at Westpark Elementary, I love working with kids and have spent many hundreds of volunteer hours putting together each production. This year marked my 5th musical for Westpark and my 2nd for South Lake Middle School. Exposing kids to music and dance is important to me, not only because it is something I love, but because I love sharing it with kids and allowing them to experience something which most would never have the chance or opportunity. I also take every child who has auditioned and have found or created a role where they can participate, learn and be successful. The skills that they are learning through this experience are important and can be used at all stages of life (such as confidence, being part of a team, succeeding at learning and doing something completely new, public speaking, etc.). The skills are fundamental skills which sadly some kids will never have the opportunity to fully experience or develop.

I am confident that I can add tremendous value and would love to have an opportunity to work with you or your team in bringing the value of a musical program to the community. Should you require any further information then please do not hesitate to reach out to me at 949-422-2515.

Sincerely,

Ingrid Green
